THINK BEYOND THE BUILD PLATE.
Large-Format 3D Printing in New Mexico
The printer has a build volume. Your idea does not have to. Alt 3D produces oversized models and display components in printable sections when a project exceeds a single build plate.

Big projects need a plan, not just a bigger print.
When a finished object is larger than the available build volume, the geometry can be divided into manufacturable sections. Sectioning, alignment, joining, internal support, transport and finishing strategy all affect the final result.
We supply the printed components. The quote defines any included preparation or assembly. Your team handles painting, final installation and other work outside the agreed printing scope. We do not provide structural certification or on-site installation.
Where large format makes sense
- Dimensional logos and branded display components
- Trade-show, event and exhibit elements
- Architectural and presentation models
- Large props and visual features
- Oversized prototypes and mockups
- Custom forms and unusual geometry
How do you print something bigger than the printer?
Plan the object around manufacturing and the next steps your team will perform. Discuss seam locations, alignment features and joining requirements before dividing the model.
01 / Section
Divide geometry where it makes sense for appearance, handling and the machines producing it.
02 / Align
Include appropriate registration features so sections have a clear location during assembly.
03 / Plan the handoff
Confirm who provides fasteners, reinforcement, bonding, finishing and installation. Safety-critical joining and mounting need qualified project-specific review.
Tell us the finished size and the destination.
Send the model or reference, overall dimensions, intended environment, quantity and deadline. Flag any transport restrictions or critical interfaces. We review whether the project is suitable for printing and define the supplied parts before quoting.
Alt 3D is based in Rio Rancho, working with Albuquerque and New Mexico customers. For suitable projects, shipping can be discussed. See our River of Lights case study for an example of printed pieces used in a public display.
Large-format FAQ
What is the largest thing you can make?
There is not one useful universal number because multi-part assemblies can exceed a single machine’s build volume. Send us the finished dimensions and application for a feasibility review.
Will the seams be visible?
That depends on geometry, joining method and your finishing plans. Seam placement can be planned, but we do not promise an invisible or painted finish.
Can you help design a large object for assembly?
Yes. We can scope CAD work for sectioning and alignment features. Installation, structural requirements and any work outside the printing scope must be handled separately.
