ALT 3D CASE STUDY · ALBUQUERQUE, NEW MEXICO
Built for River of Lights.
Alt 3D’s printed butterflies and dimensional pieces became part of a public visual experience at Albuquerque’s River of Lights.

Printed pieces made for a public display.
River of Lights gave Alt 3D a chance to work beyond small models on a desk. These pieces needed clear shape and visual presence because their purpose was to become part of a larger public experience, not simply demonstrate what a printer could make.
From printer-sized pieces to installation-sized ideas.
A large object does not always need to fit inside one printer. Models can be divided into sections and printed separately, then become part of a larger assembly plan.
Projects like River of Lights connect large-format 3D printing with custom printed fabrication. Printing is one part of the final display, with downstream assembly, finishing and installation defined separately.

What a large display project needs
Scale
Define the finished dimensions and whether the object needs separate printed sections.
Visual impact
Identify the shapes and details that must remain clear at the intended viewing distance.
A clear handoff
Agree on the condition of the printed parts and who handles assembly, finishing and installation.
Planning printed components for your own display
Send a model or reference image with overall size, quantity and deadline. Describe the setting, weather exposure, transport limits and any surfaces that connect to other parts.
Alt 3D supplies printed components within the agreed scope. We do not provide painting, metal casting or on-site installation. For a new design, our CAD service can be scoped before printing, and a prototype can help review the form first.
